Modded Minecraft server hosting
Run Fabric, Forge or NeoForge, install a Modrinth modpack from the panel, and pick enough RAM so it doesn’t fall over.

Pick your mod loader
Mods need a mod loader. The three you are likely to meet are Fabric, Forge and NeoForge. Which one you need is decided by the mod or modpack, not by us: its download page says which loader and Minecraft version it was built for. Mods for one loader do not work on another, and you cannot mix mods with plugins on the same server.
At checkout you can start as Fabric or Forge. NeoForge is available in the panel's Jar Picker, which also lets you switch loader or version later. The Java version is chosen for you.
One-click Modrinth modpacks
The Modpacks page in the panel installs a Modrinth modpack and the right loader for you. Search for a pack, choose its version, confirm, and the panel does the rest. The first start can take several minutes while the pack sets itself up.
Two things to know before you press the button:
- A modpack install replaces your server files. The panel makes a backup first, and if the backup fails nothing is changed. Download a copy of any world you want to keep.
- The one-click installer covers Modrinth packs. If a pack is only published elsewhere, you can still run it by uploading its server files with the file manager or SFTP.
Prefer to build your own? The Minecraft Mods page searches and installs single mods, or you can upload files to the mods folder. Remember that players need the same mods on their own computers to join.
How much RAM do mods need?
More than plugins do. Most modpacks need at least 4 GB just to start and run well, even with few players, and large packs often want 6 GB or 8 GB. Always check what the pack's author recommends and start from there.
| Plan | RAM | CPU limit | A rough fit | Per month |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Krill 1 | 2 GB | 1 core | A few light Fabric mods for a small group | £6 |
| Krill 2 | 4 GB | 2 cores | Smaller modpacks, or a modded server with a few players | £11 |
| Krill 3 | 6 GB | 3 cores | Light to medium modpacks and busier servers | £16 |
| Krill 4 | 8 GB | 4 cores | Big modpacks and communities | £21 |
These are rough guides. Modpacks vary a lot. Our largest plan is 8 GB, so a pack that asks for more than that will not fit with us today. If you are close to the line, start with the pack author's minimum, watch the console, and upgrade if it struggles. You only pay the pro-rated difference, and the new RAM applies when the server next restarts.
Protect your world
Every plan has a daily automatic backup and 2 backup slots. Make a manual backup before you add mods or change loader, and download a copy of anything precious. Backups are stored on the server's own drives, not off-site, so a downloaded copy is your safety net. See the backups guide.
Unlimited slots
We never cap or charge for player slots. With mods, RAM and CPU are the real limits, so choose the plan by what the pack needs rather than by how many friends you have.
