Help guides
Short guides for the common jobs. Connect · Upload a world · Install plugins · Change version · Backups · Restore a backup · Own jar · Support tickets
1. Connect to your server
- Open the client panel. First time: choose Forgot password and use the email you paid with, to set a password.
- Open your server and press Start. Wait until the console says the server is done loading.
- Copy the Address shown at the top of the Console page.
- In Minecraft Java Edition: Multiplayer, Add Server, paste the address and join.
2. Upload a world
- On the Console page press Stop.
- On your PC, zip the world folder, which is the folder that contains
level.dat. - Open the Files tab. Delete the current
world,world_netherandworld_the_endfolders if you want to replace them. - Press Upload and choose your zip. Then open the menu beside the zip and choose Unarchive.
- Open
server.propertiesand makelevel-namematch your world folder name (the default isworld). Save. - Start the server.
Large worlds upload more reliably over SFTP. The SFTP address, port and username are on the Settings tab, and the password is your panel password.
3. Install plugins
- Download the plugin
.jarfrom its official page, for the Minecraft version your server runs. Paper loads Bukkit and Spigot plugins. - Open the Files tab and go into the
pluginsfolder. - Press Upload and choose the jar.
- Restart the server and check the console for errors. Plugin settings appear in a folder named after the plugin.
Fabric and Forge mods do not run on Paper.
4. Change the Minecraft version
- Make a backup first (guide 5). Moving to an older version can damage a world.
- Press Stop.
- Open the Startup tab and set Minecraft Version to the version you want, for example
1.21.4. Leave Build Number onlatest. - Open the Settings tab and press Reinstall Server. This downloads the new server jar. Your world and plugins stay.
- Start the server. Check that your plugins support the new version.
5. Backups
- Your server makes one backup by itself every night (some time between 03:00 and 06:00). Nothing to set up.
- Each server keeps a fixed number of backups (the Backups tab shows how many). When the slots are full, the oldest unlocked backup is replaced by the new one.
- To make one yourself, open the Backups tab and press Create Backup. If every backup is locked, unlock or delete one first.
- To keep a backup for good, open the menu beside it and choose Lock. A locked backup is never replaced. Lock the one you made just before a big change.
- To download a backup, open the same menu and choose Download.
Download backups of worlds you care about and keep them on your own PC.
6. Restore a backup yourself
- Press Stop on the Console page and wait until the server is offline.
- Open the Backups tab and find the backup by its date (the nightly ones are named by date).
- Open the menu beside it and choose Restore. Tick Delete all files before restoring if you want an exact copy of that day, or leave it off to keep newer files that are not in the backup.
- Confirm, wait for the restore to finish, then press Start.
A restore replaces your current files, so lock a fresh backup of the current state first if you might want it back. You do not need to contact us.
7. Use your own jar
- Press Stop, then open the Files tab (or connect with SFTP, details on the Settings tab) and upload your jar to the main folder.
- Open the Startup tab and set Server Jar File to the exact name of your jar, for example
my-server.jar. - Start the server. Or use the Jar Picker tab to switch to Paper, Purpur, Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, Vanilla or Velocity.
The startup command and Java image are managed by us (the Java version is picked automatically). Your own jar must follow the terms: no crypto mining, attack tools or open proxies (see the acceptable use policy).
8. Open a support ticket
- Log in to the client panel and open the server you need help with.
- Press Tickets in the left menu, then the + button.
- Give it a title, pick a category, describe the problem and press Create. We reply on the same ticket.
